Advantages:
High-flow oxygen delivery: The flow rate provided by the Venturi mask is higher than the patient's peak inspiratory flow rate, ensuring that the oxygen concentration is stable and precisely controllable.
Precise control of oxygen concentration: The inhaled oxygen concentration is related to the caliber of the jet hole, the air inlet caliber and the oxygen flow rate. The oxygen concentration can be precisely controlled by adjusting these parameters.
Preventing repeated breathing: High-flow gas continuously flushes the inside of the mask to prevent exhaled air from being retained in the mask and reduce carbon dioxide retention.
Disadvantages:
Dry airway mucosa: High-flow airflow may cause dry airway mucosa, requiring heating and humidification treatment.
Not suitable for all patients: For some patients with severe heart disease or hypertension, the use of a Venturi mask may increase the burden on the heart and aggravate the condition.
